Music for breakfast
“On a Sunday morning I wake up with some cheerful music. This can be jazz, pop or some orchestral music. Indie music I like best; it makes me totally happy. For breakfast I have an egg and bacon sandwich while playing my music. After breakfast I have a discovery hour while watching indie clips of 10 minutes. I enjoy finding music that nobody knows.”

A taste of culture
“At noon I like going for some culture, surprising myself with some spontaneous activity. I like going to museums. I’ve been to the Scheepvaartmuseum and the Tropenmuseum. The Jazz Museum is still on my bucket list. The Scheepvaartmuseum blew my mind. I thought it was very interesting to hear about Dutch shipping at the age of the Dutch East India Company (voc).”

Hip & Happening
“I’m interested in the food from many cultures. I love Vietnamese, Japanese and Indian food. I don’t know much about Dutch food, but I know poffertjes are quite delicious. After lunch I like going to a concert. I’ve been to the Bimhuis a few times (Piet Heinkade). They often play jazz there. Sometimes it’s students from the nearby Conservatorium playing there. This makes it even more fun.”

Broadening horizons
“Indie games like the Stanley Parable are great to play with friends. It’s fun to see their reactions. Not only indie games have my attention, I also enjoy mainstream games like Final Fantasy. I can get so caught up in videogames that I forget the time. One time I even forgot to eat dinner.”

Spicing up dinner
“When cooking dinner I improvise with the stuff that happens to be in the fridge. In this way I can combine cultures by mixing various spices and other ingredients. I prefer having meat for dinner, in particular beef and pork. I do like chicken, but I prefer red meat. Finally, on a Sunday I like having a drink with friends.”

From a'dam with love
“Before going to bed, I have a stroll through Amsterdam. Compared to Istanbul, Amsterdam is a very quiet place at this time of night. At times like these, the differences between these two cities surprise me. In Istanbul the streets are still crowded at this time. At midnight I go to bed. I put on some music that I discovered that morning, and then I go to sleep, probably until 09.00 hrs the next morning.”
